Bruichladdich Octomore 16.1 is a super-heavily peated single malt, the first release in the sixteenth annual edition of the Octomore series. It was distilled in 2019 from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley grown in 2018, malted to 101.4 PPM.
The spirit spent five years in first-fill American oak bourbon barrels and was bottled at a cask strength of 59.3%, in a 70cl bottle.
On the nose, orchard fruit, sea spray and lemon zest sit within campfire smoke. The palate pairs peat smoke with salted caramel, melon and apricot, and the long finish carries black pepper, dark chocolate and sea salt.
