Octomore 16.2 is a cask strength Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 58.1% in a 70cl bottle. The barley was peated to 101.4 PPM.
It was aged in Oloroso sherry butts, Amarone barriques and French oak casks, then finished in Madeira and Moscato casks.
The nose opens with dark berries, prunes and cherries in sweet woodsmoke, with balsamic, espresso and polished leather following. On the palate are black forest gateau, roasted coffee beans, liquorice and charred oak, alongside red wine tannins and maritime peat. The finish is long, with smoked plums, cocoa and oak warmth.
