Bruichladdich – Octomore 16.2 (70cl)

Octomore 16.2 is a super-heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2019 from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley harvested in 2018 and peated to 101.4 PPM. It spent five years maturing in European oak. It was first aged in Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux red wine casks, then recasked into Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks for its final year. The nose has dried figs, sultanas, sun-baked tropical fruit, honeysuckle, orange blossom and toasted oak under sweet campfire smoke. The palate is dense, with caramelised sugar, crème brûlée, dark chocolate-covered cherries and roasted hazelnuts, alongside wood spice, tannins and earthy peat. The finish is very long, sweet and smoky, with spiced oak, dark fruit and sea salt.
