Port Charlotte SC:01 is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich on Islay. It matured in a combination of sherry casks and American oak casks, then spent time in Sauternes wine casks, a sweet dessert wine that added fruit to the smoke.
The nose offers peach, candied grapes, fresh linen and toasted nuts, building slowly to dusty oak and earthy, mossy notes. The palate brings ginger, smoked almonds, cassia, orange peel, brown sugar, sultanas and red chilli flakes. The finish is vanilla pod with a hint of cigar box.
