This is an edition of The Classic Laddie, the unpeated Bruichladdich, finished in Oloroso sherry casks and made for global travel retail. It is distilled from 100% Scottish barley, part of it grown biodynamically. Each batch marries whiskies from different barley vintages, ages and base casks before a further nine to twelve months in Oloroso casks from Fernando de Castilla in Jerez. It is bottled on Islay at 50%, without chill-filtering or added colouring.
The nose offers raisins, dried figs, dates, orange peel and honey. The palate brings dried fruit, orange marmalade, toffee and cocoa, with cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long, with cinnamon, orange peel, vanilla and oak.
