Bunnahabhain – 12 Years Old Madeira Cask Pride of Islay (46.1%)

This is a 12-year-old Bunnahabhain single malt, bottled by Thompson Bros. under their Pride of Islay label. The spirit was distilled near Port Askaig on the north-east coast of Islay and matured in Madeira wood. Bunnahabhain is best known for unpeated spirit that is rich, nutty and fruity, with a gentle coastal edge. The Madeira casks add a fruity sweetness on top. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 46.1% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration. Thompson Bros. describe it as rich and oily, with a mouth-coating texture, and with the distillery's coastal minerality and unpeated character lasting right to the end.
