Bunnahabhain 15 Year Old An Cuan Garbh No. 1 is an unpeated Islay single malt, bottled at 51.6% in an outturn of 7,571 bottles. It is the first release in the 2026 chapter of the Westering Home series, launched during Feis Ile 2026. The name means the rough sea in Scottish Gaelic.
The whisky matured for 15 years by Bunnahabhain Bay on Islay's north-east coast, then was finished in white port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley. It is non-chill-filtered and natural in colour.
The nose has honey, soft fruit, honeysuckle, candied citrus and elderflower, with sea spray and toasted oak. The palate brings peach, ripe apricot, candied lemon peel, honey-glazed almonds, toasted malt and gentle ginger. The finish is warm and lingering, nutty and sweet.
