This Bunnahabhain is a 25 year old single malt from Islay, distilled in 1988 and bottled by Douglas Laing under its Directors' Cut label.
It is gold in colour. The nose is earthy, with roots and raw celeriac followed by vanilla, and hay once water is added. On the palate there is an unexpected peatiness alongside spearmint, lemongrass, peppermint, lemon liqueur and grapefruit; with water it turns to citrus and lemony grasses. The finish is long, with grass, oak, spice and earth.
