Bunnahabhain 1989 is a 25 year old single cask bottling from Wilson & Morgan, at 45.5%. It was finished in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and the outturn is 561 bottles. Wilson & Morgan have been known since 1992 for their bottlings of Scotch malt whisky. Here the final period in sherry wood adds a soft sweetness while the character of the distillery stays in front. The nose brings dried raisins, dark chocolate and exotic fruit. On the palate it is soft and creamy, with dark chocolate, tropical fruit and delicate sherry tones, neither too sweet nor winey. The finish is long, with hints of herbs, black tea, sugar and gentle oak.
