Bunnahabhain 1990 30 Year Old - XOP Black Series (Douglas Laing) (43.5%)

This is a 30 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, bottled by Douglas Laing for its Xtra Old Particular Black Series. It was distilled in November 1990 and bottled in April 2021, after three decades in a single refill hogshead. The whisky comes from cask 14861 at a natural cask strength of 43.5% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration. Only 291 bottles were filled. The nose offers vanilla pods, honeyed barley, creamy caramel and gentle charred oak. Tangy citrus gives way on the palate to juicy sultanas, dried apricots and a subtle coastal note. The finish is long, with tangerine zest, milk chocolate, candied nuts and a hint of Islay seaweed.
