Bunnahabhain – 2014 Hand-Filled Canasta Butt #2746 (61%)

This is a single cask Bunnahabhain distilled in 2014 and matured for around six years in a Canasta sherry butt, cask #2746. It was hand-filled at the distillery and bottled at a natural cask strength of 61% ABV. It is unpeated, non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose opens with prunes, toasted brown sugar and raisins, then brown sauce, pipe tobacco and herbal honey, with dark chocolate, liquorice, black pepper and blackberries building with air. The palate is deep and oily, with dark sherry, caramelised sugar and baking spice. It is hot at first, then settles quickly. The finish is long, sweet and peppery, with tobacco and cocoa fading slowly.
