Bunnahabhain – 33 Year Old 1991/2025 Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Refill American Hogshead

This is a Bunnahabhain from Islay, distilled in 1991 and matured for 33 years in a refill American hogshead. It was bottled in April 2025 for Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice, a series the bottler has run since 1968, and comes from a single cask that gave 127 bottles. On the nose it shows vanilla and caramel with a little hazelnut and a light sea-salt note. The palate is full-bodied, with malty sweetness meeting gentle wood spice, and the long finish brings seaweed and sea salt against a mild sweetness.
