This is an Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled in 1997 and bottled at nine years old by Signatory Vintage. Its colour is pale, likened to Chardonnay.
The nose is powerful and punchy, with plenty of peat, smoke and earth, and a good freshness. On the palate the peat is big but balanced, alongside fruit in the manner of eau-de-vie, with pear and pineapple juice. Water makes it fruitier, bringing quince and Williams pear while the peat steps back. The finish is long, on pear eau-de-vie and peat.
