Bunnahabhain Moine is a heavily peated Islay single malt bottled at 46.3%. Mòine is Gaelic for peat, and the whisky is made from 100% peated spirit. It was matured in sherry, bourbon and red wine casks.
The nose offers leather, sweet liquorice and medicinal smoke, with burnt sugar and fried bananas, and engine oil and sea air beneath. On the palate come salted liquorice, green apples, cream caramel and fudge, with smoked herring in the smoke. The finish is long, with iodine, menthol and warm spices, turning oilier as creamy, nutty sherry notes grow.
