Bunnahabhain – Staoisha The Ultimate 2014 (70cl, 46%)

This is a Bunnahabhain Staoisha, the heavily peated spirit the Islay distillery makes alongside its usual unpeated style. It was distilled in 2014 and bottled independently by The Ultimate Whisky Company at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose brings campfire smoke, seaweed, citrus and smoked bacon, with vanilla and light medicinal notes. On the palate there is peat smoke, salty sea air, sweet malt, citrus peel and black pepper. The finish is long and warming, with lingering smoke, soft spices and a little sweetness.
