Cadenhead's 13 Year Old Enigma Islay (Ardbeg) Bourbon Matured (70cl)

This is a 13-year-old Islay single malt bottled by Cadenhead's as Enigma, matured in bourbon barrels and presented in a 70cl bottle. The distillery is kept off the label, though it is widely believed to be Ardbeg, a south-coast Islay distillery. The bourbon casks leave the spirit's intense peat smoke, citrus brightness and oily texture clear of heavy cask influence. The result is powerful but focused, with maritime smoke and classic bourbon-oak sweetness working together.
