Callington Mill Blue Lake Lodge Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

Blue Lake Lodge is a single malt from Callington Mill Distillery in Oatlands, Tasmania, in a 70cl bottle at 46%. It has natural colour and is not chill-filtered. The casks are stored outdoors beside the lodge on Arthur's Lake in the Tasmanian Central Highlands, in the cool upland climate, and the lake supplies the distillery's water. The whisky starts in small 30-litre sherry and port casks, then moves into three larger first-fill casks: ex-bourbon with Muscadelle, ex-bourbon with rum, and Australian tawny. On the nose, vanilla, white blossom and coconut sit with butter caramel and maple syrup. The palate is nutty, with toffee, liquorice and berries. The finish is long and sweet, with nougat and oak.
