Enigma is a Tasmanian single malt from Callington Mill Distillery in Oatlands, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is made only from local, GM-free Tasmanian barley, and is milled, mashed, fermented, distilled and matured in Oatlands.
Maturation is entirely in freshly emptied first-fill casks that held sherry from Jerez de la Frontera or port from the Douro Valley. It is non-chill-filtered and natural in colour.
The nose has flamed orange, caramel, nutmeg, dried figs and marzipan. Raisins, sultanas, tropical fruit and fresh strawberries lead the soft palate before dry oak and a mild peppery bitterness. The finish is light, with orange and gentle spice turning woody and dry.
