Callington Mill Oloroso Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 46%)

This is a Tasmanian single malt from Callington Mill, matured in Oloroso casks and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is described as full-bodied, with a velvet-like texture in the mouth. The nose combines vanilla, toasted marshmallow and milk bottle sweets with dried herbs, Christmas spice and a firm note of oak. On the palate come buttered popcorn and dried fruits, with oak that stays balanced but persistent. The whisky coats the tongue and lifts through the middle of the palate. The finish is long and herbal, with bitter dark chocolate, charred tobacco and toasty oak.
