Calumet Farm 15 Year Old Single Rack Black is a Kentucky straight bourbon named Whirlaway, after the farm's 1941 Triple Crown winner. Each small batch is drawn entirely from a single, center cut rack rather than from barrels across a warehouse. This batch of 19 barrels was aged for 15 years in Kentucky rickhouses, from a mashbill of 74% corn, 18% rye and 8% malted barley. It is bottled without chill filtration at 105 proof (52.5%) in a 750ml bottle. The colour is a deep amber with copper highlights. The nose offers caramel, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, baked apple and oak. The palate is bold oak, aged spice, toasted grain and toffee with a subtle smoky sweetness. The finish is long, with sweet tobacco and lingering rye.
