An 11 year old Caol Ila made for Fèis Ìle 2026, the 40th anniversary of the Islay festival. Only 1,080 bottles were released, at a natural cask strength of 56.1%.
It was first matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, then finished for two years in American oak casks that previously held Don Julio tequila, a first for the distillery. It has been nicknamed 'Tequila Caol Ila'.
The usual brine and coastal smoke remain, joined by zesty citrus peel, fresh herbs and a faint earthy agave note. The finish is clean and warming.
