A 12 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, matured entirely in a second-fill bourbon hogshead. It is bottled at a cask strength of 58.5% in a 50cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The distillery was built in 1846.
The nose shows clean peat, iodine and sea spray, with lemon and olive. On the palate the peat is present without being overpowering, alongside fresh lemon, ash and a very slight vanilla from the well-worn cask. The finish stays maritime and peaty, favouring elegance over power.
