A 12 year old cask-strength Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled by the Edinburgh firm James Macarthur & Co at 64.8% in a 75cl bottle. It was distilled around 1973 and bottled around 1986.
The nose is ashtray and diesel oil with plenty of brine and a hint of plasticine. On the palate it is very lemony, with grapefruit, ashes and almond oil once water is added. The finish is long, slightly medicinal and briny, with smoked, salted liquorice in the aftertaste.
