This is a 12 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company at 48.1% ABV without chill filtration. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
Caol Ila overlooks the Sound of Islay, which is what its name means in Gaelic, and its tall stills produce a peated spirit that is light and bright.
The nose brings clean coastal smoke, citrus, sea spray, charred driftwood and soft malt. On the palate there is sweet peat, smoked barley, green apple, vanilla and pepper with a smooth, oily texture. The finish is long and lightly smoky, with ash, citrus and mineral brine.
