This is a 13 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 43% ABV for its Discovery range. The spirit came from the distillery and was then matured in Gordon & MacPhail's own casks.
The Discovery range sorts its whiskies into three flavour styles: Sherry, Smoky and Bourbon.
The nose is sweet vanilla, fleshy apples and apricots amid cured meat and peat smoke. The palate offers white fruit, sponge cake, lemon, oatcake and smoked cheese. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
