A 15-year-old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled at 55.4% ABV in a 35cl bottle.
It matured in a Koval rye quarter cask and was then finished for six months in a refill tawny port octave, so rye spice meets the fruit and nut notes of the port cask.
The nose has gentle peat smoke and sea air with rye-bread crust, toasted oak, dried red fruit, orange peel and a little walnut. The palate is smoky and spicy, with black pepper, cinnamon, raisin, dried cherry and toffee, and a salty edge. The finish is medium and sweet, with fading peat smoke, oak and a dry, slightly bitter close.
