This Caol Ila was distilled in 2004 on Islay and matured for 15 years in a refill sherry butt. It is a single cask bottling in the Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice series, drawn from one cask that yielded 535 bottles.
It is bottled at cask strength, 58.9% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring. The malt is peated.
The nose combines rich vanilla, warm autumn spices and the smoke of a beach bonfire. On the palate, dark berries and grapefruit peel give way to savoury cured meat. The finish is long, with ripe fruit and a smooth peat smoke.
