This is a 40 year old Caol Ila, an Islay single malt distilled in 1979 and bottled by Hunter Laing for the 2019 release of its Kinship Collection. It is bottled at 44.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent four decades in a refill American hogshead.
On the nose it is mellow, with vanilla and oak alongside white flowers, fresh citrus and a salty sea breeze. The palate brings rich nuts, sherbet lemons, creamy vanilla and spicy oak.
