A 38-year-old Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 1984 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail on 23 March 2023 in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It is a cask strength release at 53.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky comes from a single refill American hogshead, cask 3122, which produced 150 bottles. Caol Ila stands on the east coast of Islay, just north of Port Askaig on the Sound of Islay, and was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson.
