This is a 19 year old Caol Ila from 1996, an Islay single malt bottled at 55.4% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It was matured in a refill hogshead that gave an outturn of 253 bottles.
The bottling was made in Scotland by Kingsbury & Co. of Aberdeen for Whisky Talk Fukuoka, Japan's oldest whisky festival. Kingsbury was founded in 1989 by Katsuhiko Tanaka, and its whiskies are hand selected by Tanaka-san together with Gordon Wright of Springbank Distillery.
It is described as a classic Caol Ila profile and a showcase of mature Islay peat.
