This is a single cask Caol Ila from Islay, matured in a sherry cask and bottled as number 58 in the Maltbarn Series. It is 13 years old, from 2003, and was bottled at 55.5% in a 70cl bottle. Only 175 bottles were filled.
The nose is light, with sweet peat, clementine and cake sweetness, and the peat becomes less dominant as it settles. The palate has far more power and peat, though the peat stays light and sweet. The finish carries the same flavours, with hints of citrus and oak. The sherry cask did not bring the classic sherry notes.
