An 18 year old Caol Ila distilled in March 2007 and bottled in August 2025 by North Star Spirits as Cask Series #026. It matured in a bourbon cask and then spent five years in a Pinot Noir cask from Seguin Moreau's Icône range. Some 228 bottles were filled.
The nose recalls two-stroke exhaust fumes among wet spruce woods. The long maturation and the Pinot Noir finish have rounded the peat, leaving a finely sweet whisky with aromatic complexity. The finish coats the palate in a dry, creamy way, with the peat staying close until the very end.
