An Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2007 and bottled in April 2022 after more than 14 years in a refill sherry butt. It was released under the Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice label for the 225th anniversary of Nickolls & Perks.
The bottling is 56.3% ABV, at natural cask strength and without chill-filtration, with 352 bottles produced.
The nose brings lemon drizzle and ash, then cured bacon and bonfire embers. On the palate come orange peel and maraschino cherries, plenty of smoke and a hint of liquorice. Bonfire embers linger in the finish, with citrus underneath.
