This is a nine year old Caol Ila from the Hepburn's Choice independent range, bottled by Hunter Laing. The Islay malt was distilled in 2010 and drawn from a wine cask in 2020, giving an outturn of 388 bottles at 46% ABV.
The nose offers strawberry tart, seaweed and the savoury warmth of oatcakes. On the palate there are still plenty of coastal notes, now with honey and damson jam alongside. The finish is spicy with cinnamon and smoked paprika, softened by caramel.
