Caol Ila – 2014/2025 10 Year Old PX & Amarone Cask Finish Murray McDavid (70cl, 53.1%)

This is a 10-year-old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark series at a cask strength of 53.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. The whisky was distilled in 2014 and matured in a bourbon hogshead. It then received a finish in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry and Amarone casks, and was bottled in spring 2025. The release comprises 1,262 bottles. The nose combines floral hints and hickory wood with salted apricots and plums. On the palate, grilled berries meet smoky apple and tamarind. The finish leaves gentle orchard fruit and the warmth of glowing embers.
