Caol Ila – 2014/2025 1st Fill Amarone Cask Mystical Malt Creatures (70cl, 55.8%)

This is a single cask Caol Ila from Murray McDavid's Mystical Malt Creatures series, distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025. After 11 years of maturation it was finished in a first fill Amarone barrique, and it is bottled at a cask strength of 55.8% in a 70cl bottle. The Italian red wine cask brings dark fruit, tannin and spicy depth, which join the maritime smoke of the Islay distillery. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. On the palate, ripe berries meet dry red wine notes and fine peat smoke. The finish is long, spicy and slightly dry.
