This is a nine year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2024 by James Eadie at cask strength in a 70cl bottle.
After its main maturation, the whisky spent seven months finishing in a first-fill European oak sherry hogshead.
The nose is earthy and rich, with liquorice, bonfire embers, smoked bacon, kippers, roasted cumin and star anise. On the palate it is smoky and creamy, with smoked pear, coastal brine, salted caramel and liquorice root. The finish is long and full-bodied, with smoked marzipan and candied lemon peel.
