Caol Ila 30 Year Old is a single cask Islay malt matured in a dark sherry cask, with whisky laid down in 1991. It is bottled by Douglas Laing as The Black Series, part of the XOP range of single cask releases.
The nose opens with cigars, temple incense and chocolate, followed by raisins, mixed berry jam and prunes. The palate is thick and moreish, with spiced oak, pine, dark chocolate, citrus and bonfire ash. The long finish carries burnt brown sugar, mocha and pine.
