This is an Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2019 for Wilson & Morgan's Barrel Selection. It spent eight years in first-fill bourbon casks and is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose starts gently, with medicinal and phenolic peat, some farmy notes, and a touch of butter and vanilla. On the palate a maritime wave of iodine and peat arrives, ashy and tarry, followed by bananas and ripe white wine fruit. It turns buttery, then clean, mineral and lemony, with the peat staying hot and thick for several minutes.
