This is an 8 year old Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 2012 and given an Oloroso sherry finish for Wilson & Morgan's Barrel Selection. It is bottled at 60.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The sherry influence is subtle, intended to add a fuller, fruitier and juicier taste to the peated spirit rather than a winey coat on the nose. The nose stays unmistakably Islay, with maritime and briny aromas.
On the palate it is dry and smoky, with ripe peaches and a lively mix of fruity sweetness and piquant hints.
