Caol Ila – Moch (70cl)

Caol Ila Moch is an unreduced Islay single malt from Caol Ila Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. Moch is Gaelic for dawn. It is the first Caol Ila single malt chosen entirely for its taste, rather than for its age, cask wood, strength or finish. The result is smoky, with the distillery's smoky-antiseptic character balanced by sweet and salty notes and a lift of acidity. The nose recalls wet, salty sand after the tide has gone out, with antiseptic notes and lingering smoke. The palate is sweet and salty with balancing acidity. The finish is short and drying, with a little bitterness and a smoky aftertaste.
