Cask Islay 10 Year Old Sherry Edition - A.D. Rattray (70cl, 57.3%)

Cask Islay 10 Year Old Sherry Edition is a smoky Islay single malt from A.D. Rattray, bottled at 10 years old and a cask strength of 57.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has its natural colour. The whisky comes from two groups of casks. Whisky from five butts spent nine and a half years in refill sherry butts, then a further 18 months in first-fill oloroso sherry butts. The rest matured entirely in 13 first-fill oloroso sherry barriques, which A.D. Rattray chose in Jerez in 2010. The nose brings blood orange and blackberry with dense coastal smoke. On the palate come dark cherry, bitter marmalade and caramelised nut praline. The long, warming finish carries spiced blackberry jam over soft ash.
