This is an organic rye whiskey from Catoctin Creek Distilling in Purcellville, Virginia, in a 750ml bottle at 40% ABV. The distillery mashes, ferments, distils and ages on site. The mashbill is 100% organic rye, well above the legal minimum of 51% rye for American rye whiskey. The spirit is pot-distilled and matured for approximately two years in new charred white oak casks. The nose brings rye grass, lemongrass, buttered pecans, vanilla and lemon zest, with caramel and butter toffee developing. The palate is buttery and warm, with baking spices, dried fruit and banana pudding. The finish is medium, gently spicy, with raw wood, caramel and rye grassiness.
