Charbay R5 is a hop-flavoured whiskey in a 75cl bottle, double-distilled from Bear Republic's Racer 5 IPA, a beer of 7% ABV. Marko chose that full-bodied IPA for its aromatic hops and clean finish.
This is the fourth release in the series, a ten-barrel batch distilled in March 2013 and aged for 29 months in French oak. It is bottled at 49.5% ABV.
The nose is intensely hoppy, with orange and clove. On the palate there is sweet molasses and smoky notes.
