Château Mouton Rothschild 2008 is a red Pauillac, classified as a 1er Cru Classé. The estate was bought in 1853 by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild and renamed Mouton Rothschild; Baron Philippe later made it his life's work, introduced château bottling in 1924 and achieved the 1973 reclassification to First Growth. The vineyard is 84 hectares, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 77%, Merlot 12%, Cabernet Franc 9% and Petit Verdot 2%, with vines averaging about 48 years. Grapes are hand-picked, fermentation lasts 15 to 25 days in open oak vats, and ageing is 19 to 22 months in new 225-litre barriques. The wine is sold as a pack of 12 bottles.
