Chateau Ste Michelle Columbia Valley Merlot 2019 (75cl, 13.5%)

A Merlot from Columbia Valley, made from grapes grown on own-rooted vines in the comparatively cool climate of the region. Cold nights and warm, dry days create ideal conditions for ripening, and the wine is fermented on the skins in open fermenters before ageing for 18 months in French barriques. It shows deep ruby colour, with aromas of juicy black cherries and ripe plums, a subtle herbal note and a hint of leather. On the palate it has soft, well-integrated tannins, fresh fruit and a long, elegant finish.
