Château Suduiraut 2009 Sauternes (37.5cl, 14%)

Château Suduiraut 2009 is a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes from Bordeaux, in a 37.5cl half-bottle at 14%. The estate has held its Premier Cru Classé status since the 1855 Classification. The wine is 93% Sémillon and 7% Sauvignon Blanc, both affected by noble rot. Several passes through the vineyard were needed to pick only the most affected clusters. It was aged for 20 months in oak, about half new and half one-year-old. The nose shows honeycomb, chamomile and yellow flowers, then dried pineapple, quince paste and almond croissant. The palate is viscous and satiny, with candied tropical fruit and apricot, balanced by sharp acidity. The finish is long, with quince, clementine and honeycomb.
