A Kentucky straight bourbon from Chicken Cock Whiskey, finished in French Cognac barrels. The brand rose to fame as the house whiskey of the Cotton Club during Prohibition, and was revived in 2012 after a distillery fire put it out of business shortly after the Second World War.
The nose is peaches, sweet cream and honey. On the palate come vanilla and cherry with a tannic edge, alongside softened plums, candied dates and banana flambe. The finish brings hot caramelised sugar, melted butter and fresh citrus zest.
