Chicken Cock Rye is a rye whiskey from the Chicken Cock brand, established in 1856 in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. The brand became a staple of Prohibition-era speakeasies, including the Cotton Club, faded after the Second World War and has since returned.
The whiskey is caramel in colour with a dark orange hue. The nose is led by spice and pepper, with cinnamon, grassiness and sweet oak. The palate brings spices, vanilla, butterscotch and pepper, with slight citrus and oak and a buttery mouthfeel. The finish is long and peppery, with a hint of honey.
