Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch 1990s (40%)

This is a 1990s bottling of Clan MacGregor, a blended Scotch whisky at 40% ABV. William Grant & Sons produces it from about fifteen malt and grain whiskies from the Highlands, Lowlands and Speyside, with Kininvie as the principal malt. On the nose it is grainy and cracker-like, with floral notes, pine and beeswax, plus vanilla, malt and citrus. The palate begins sweet with caramel and honey, before pipe tobacco, tar and cereal grain appear; banana, dark chocolate, nutmeg and allspice are mentioned by some. The finish is clean and sweet, with malt, brine and faint peat, and a biscuity or baked apple note for some.
